Type Ones are driven in life to make positive change throughout the world. Type Twos are empathetic, caring, and are driven by wanting to be loved, needed and appreciated. In the Enneagram, Type Ones are adjacent to Type Twos. Therefore, some Type Ones share a few of the behavioral tendencies of Type Twos. These are known as Type Ones with a Two-wing, or Type 1w2.
What is an Enneagram 1w2?
What is a Type 1 wing 2 on the Enneagram?Type Ones are known as “Reformers” because they are always looking for ways to improve the world, have influence, assert pressure and affect change. Type Twos are known as “Helpers” because they have an innate desire to help others and act with empathy. A two-wing adds these qualities to a Type One personality. This means that a Type 1w2 will desire to bring about social change, but will have a certain interpersonal sensitivity to their actions. This can make Type 1w2 very powerful when advocating for meaningful social change. As a result, Type 1w2 are called “Advocates”.
However, unlike “Reformers”, a Two-Wing may struggle to follow through with their principles if it has the potential to inconvenience or upset another person. It can be difficult for them if their personal principles conflict with their sense of empathy. This can mean that “Advocates” find difficulty in acting decisively through internal conflict by moral dilemmas.
Enneagram 1w2 Types are often motivated by helping those less fortunate than themselves and enacting social change.
Remember, an Enneagram 1w2 is still a core Type One, so they are generally calm and collected people. They have strong principles and aren't as manipulated by their emotions. However, the two-wing allows them to be more interpersonal and friendly.
Here are some of the key traits to a Type 1w2 personality.
