INFJ Strengths and Weaknesses

The strengths and weaknesses of the INFJ personality type

Page contents:

Like any other personality type, there are INFJ strengths and weaknesses that are unique to their type. Reflecting on both of these can help an INFJ better understand where they excel and where they may need some work. Understanding what these strengths and weaknesses are can help INFJs understand their core personality a little better.

Your INFJ strengths and weaknesses may become more apparent when you interact with other personality types, as the differences are contrasted.

INFJ Strengths

Natural strengths of an INFJ
strength

Altruistic

As good listeners, INFJs naturally care about others. They generally consider how their actions might affect people and behave mindfully to find or maintain balance. While avoiding the spotlight, they typically empower those around them to reflect and grow.

strength

Profoundly observant

The INFJ has a sharp sense of their surroundings and notices small details of people's behavior. This inquisitive nature is due in part to their fascination with human behavior and societal norms. Most INFJs will agree people-watching isn't meant to be creepy but to study humans without engaging with anyone.

strength

Creatively-driven

Where others fall short of detection, the curious and detail-oriented INFJ tends to observe patterns and opportunities. In their introverted nature and vivid imagination, they spend time alone to envision their creative endeavors.

strength

Unyielding willpower

Like other intuitive introverted personality types, INFJs wholeheartedly embrace their firm self-discipline to perform their utmost best. Otherwise known as Advocates, they pursue their chosen cause with a single-minded approach – often disrupting the status quo.

INFJ weaknesses

Natural areas where INFJs could develop themselves
weakness

Highly sensitive

While their sensitivity towards others proves favorable, INFJs may strongly react when someone challenges their core beliefs. INFJs tend to shift into defense mode, particularly when it comes to heartfelt issues. Nobody likes criticism, but for INFJs it can go beyond mere criticism.

weakness

Intensely secretive

Despite their need for deep conversations and meaningful connections, INFJs tend to be exceptionally private. They rarely share their struggles due to their reluctance to burden others. Their firm boundaries prevent people from reaching and appreciating the unique qualities they hold within.

weakness

Obsessive about beliefs

In their ideal world, INFJs explore and shape their unique values based on their sharp insights. In other words, they usually have high standards likely impossible to follow, which can cause conflict to arise.

weakness

Perfectionistic

Due to their idealized measures, INFJs often grow frustrated when matters go against their structured plan. This can lead them to overlook favorable opportunities and healthy relationships.

An INFJ's weaknesses can be diminished; it's possible to work on them and try to reduce the impact they may have on your personality.
