Summary of what is an Enneagram Type 3w2?

Page contents:

Type 3s are industrious, energetic, and competitive, driven by need for recognition and goal completion. Type 2s are empathetic, caring and driven by wanting to b loved, needed and appreciated. In the Enneagram, Type 3s are adjacent to Type 2s. Therefore, some Type 3s share a few of the behavioral tendencies of Type 2s. These are known as Type 3 with a Two-wing, or Type 3w2.

What is an Enneagram 3w2?

What is a Type 3 wing 2 on the Enneagram?

Type Threes are known as "Achievers" because they are always looking for ways to achieve, complete goals, act diligently to achieve these goals, and to let others know of their achievements. Type Twos are known as “Helpers” because they are always looking for ways to help others, support and protect them, acting with empathy and care to create harmony and avoid conflict. A two-wing adds these qualities to a Type Three personality. This means that a type 3w2 will aim to achieve in a competitive and energetic manner, but will focus mainly on gaining the acceptance of others. Meaning that their biggest desire is to be worthy of the love of others, and their biggest fear is to not have it. This can make type 3w2 powerful individuals but also troublesome. As a result, type 3w2 are called "Charmers".

However, unlike "Achievers", a Two-Wing may struggle and attempt desperately at getting others to like them. They will seek praise from others in these moments to reassure them, and may lose they own personal needs as they attempt to impress others. This can mean that "Charmers" find difficulty in not constantly showing off and making a scene - even when it is evident that this is not wanted amongst a group dynamic.
